Healthy Beer

Thomas Jefferson got it right..., "Beer, if drank in moderation, softens the temper, cheers the spirit, and promotes health."

Some Schnack customers have doubted us when we have mentioned the health benefits of drinking darker beers in moderation. Here is a link that goes into the beer and health issue in great detail.

Chowhound

Chowhound is often a mixed bag of opinions and those looking for the finest of dining generally don't cotton to dives and dive wannabes like Schnack. Here is a really nice note posted to Chowhound about our all you can eat specials!

"If you're looking for low-budget, a friend of mine had a successful gathering of about 20 recently at Schnack in Carroll Gardens. It's not exactly a culinary standout - their thing is sliders, fries and beer - but what they do, they do well, and I find that the main thing with big groups like that is having everything taken care of in advance so everyone can just relax and enjoy. Talk to the manager - they require a reasonable deposit for a special party deal that keeps the beer and food coming, unlimited. We really had fun there.

It's a little further out, but Veranda Turkish restaurant on Coney Island Avenue down by Avenue U is really delicious. It's a huge place and they would definitely accommodate a large group"

Johnny Podres

We spoke today with Johnny Podres; we have been working with him to make a personal appearance at Schnack in honor of our one year anniversary. However, his hips have been bothering him so until he feels better his appearance is on hold. Please join us in sending him our best wishes!

Best of Brooklyn

We remain very thankful to Brooklyn Borough President, Marty Markowitz, and the fine staff at "Brooklyn City Hall" for putting together the Dine In Brooklyn promotion which starts April 15th.

We are sure many will try some of the more upscale venues among the 90+ who, along with Schnack, are part of the program.

Our $18.98 special at Schnack will be a dinner for two. (2 Beers, 6 burgers, fries, award winning onion rings, and dessert!).

Our special is about to get even more special. We are working with Mark and the other great people at the The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory to offer their fine ice cream as part of the promotion. Stay tuned for more details.

2005 Zagat

The 2005 Zagat Survey is out for voting. Zagat is something that some love and some hate; I think it's a perfect counterpoint to traditional critics reviews, and yes, everyone's taste is different so when you open things up to the public you get a mixed message given all the thousands who vote.

I think it's fun to vote and I urge everyone who can to sign up, Take the Survey
