Who is Cookin' in Brooklyn? Alan Harding is Cookin' in Brooklyn

People have been asking where they can find Alan.  Jimmy's been asking that for years!  With the launch of Cookin' in Brooklyn, Jimmy and I have convinced Alan to keep a very regular schedule at Schnack. I'm pleased to announce that starting Jan 23rd Alan will be cooking on Fridays and Saturdays until 10pm. Of course, he will be around many other times during the week as well.

Looking forward

We are meeting in the next few days to talk about the coming year at Schnack. We are very happy for the support and loyalty of our current customer base, and are equally excited that new customers are still coming in and discovering us as well.

Today we had a guy from NJ, which is about as far as we draw from, unless we count Mary Schnack who came from AZ.  Joe, our landlord, who is a big booster, sent some folks over as well. And then despite all the cold weather and the odd bit of snow, our regular customers are coming around the corner, down the street and even as far away as Williamsburg and Park Slope.

Many thanks to everyone who is helping us make a great start in this new year!!

Pear and NO Banana

We are currently selling our Bread Pudding with a combo of Chocolate and Pear. The bananas will return in the next batch.

Thanks Steve

Thanks to Steve Howard and his friends (and sister) for making Schnack the hottest party location in Brooklyn today. Steve's friends joined us from 3pm to 5pm for some all-you-can-eat and drink fun!

Lunar New Year

We are getting a lot of interest in the party. Some answers to some FAQs. I'll leave the questions up to your imagination.

-It's sit-down, not buffet!

-It's one seating (7pm).

-No tickets will be sold after 1/20/04.

-The meal is expected to last about 2 hours.

Get Your Tickets

On Lunar New Year's (that's Jan 22nd) we are having our 1st annual Lunar New Year's buffet. That's 8 courses of Asian-inspired Schnack food + dessert. The price is $25 in advance only. That includes drinks, soda, and an open tap. The only thing that isn't included is TIP.

Our menu as planned is:

  • Tiny Shrimp and Scallion Summer Rolls
  • Schnackie Asiana
  • Duck Roll; THINK Lobster Roll
  • CHILLED Mango Soup
  • Spicy Kielbasa Chow Fun (simply amazing)
  • Apricot & Garlic Glazed Smoked Pork Ribs
  • Knockwurst with Japanese Curry, Veggies over Japanese Rice (NY Mag. Reviewed)
  • Long Life PAD Thai
  • Bread Pudding & Ice Cream

  • Ticket are only available in ADVANCE until Jan 20th.

    Weekend

The weekend is here again. Our brisket is back by popular demand. It's sweet, it's sour, and it comes as a plate or as a hero. Our butcher says it comes from a beef steer, not a Holstein (the cow in question in Washington State); but if the recent BSE scare has you worried we have plenty of non-beef choices including fish, pork, and of course our vegetarian and vegan offerings.

    New Year

Today we open at 1pm. Last night was really run. We had a few groups joining us. Both used our special all you can eat & drink offer to make the night extra special. We had a raffle, and a toast at midnight. Unsure if we should do a Champagne or PBR toast, we did both.
